Always That Space

Disclaimer: I’ve only ever taken one person to the emergency room and I’ve never called 911 in my life. Just wanted to get that out there to quell any notions that I’m an alarmist or have a dormant case of Munchausen Syndrome waiting to erupt before I begin my tale.

When Mike walked into my office the evening of Monday, February 24, 2014, I knew either I was a negligent wife and never noticed the mustard-colored hue of his skin or that something was terribly wrong. As I drove home, I became more and more concerned as Mike was able to answer my questions, but with a great deal of defiant confusion.
